Ukraine sees agriculture output decline in Jan-Nov

Agricultural enterprises reduced production by 15.3% in the 11 months.

Ukraine's agricultural production dropped by 12.4% in January-November 2020 year-over-year (y-o-y).

In particular, agricultural enterprises reduced production by 15.3% over the period under review, while private farmers saw their output shrink by 6.7%, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service.

In total, livestock production decreased by 2.5% compared to January-November 2019 (by 0.6% at agricultural enterprises and by 4.4% at private farms).

The State Statistics Service noted that the data provided does not take into account information from Russia-occupied parts of Ukraine, namely the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and certain districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Previous developments

  • The State Statistics Service reported the growth of agricultural production in Ukraine in 2019 at 1.1% compared to the previous year. In particular, agricultural enterprises boosted production by 3.3%, while private farmers cut their output by 2%.
  • Milk production in Ukraine in 2019 decreased by 3.7% and fell below 10 million tonnes, to 9.68 million tonnes, for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine, the State Statistics Service said.
  • At the same time, meat production in 2019 increased by 4.8%, to 3.47 million tonnes (live weight), while that of eggs rose by 3.4%, to 16.6 billion.
  • Milk production in Ukraine in January-November 2020 stood at 8.67 million tonnes, which was 4.2% below the figure recorded y-o-y.
