It is a project that endangers energy security of both Ukraine and the EU, the president stresses.
During the negotiations with Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko urged the European Commission and EU member states to reject the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
"We could not ignore the need to strengthen cooperation in the issues of energy security of Ukraine and the EU, especially given the latest cynical actions of Russia's Gazprom," Petro Poroshenko told a press briefing following the meeting, the presidential administration's press service reported.
"We have to make extremely important conclusions about this gas crisis. Russia is an unreliable supplier and only joint actions of Ukraine and the EU can provide energy security for both Ukraine and the European Union," he said. According to him, during the upcoming Summit, it is planned to discuss the sectoral directions of cooperation and the possibility of Ukraine joining the digital and energy unions, as well as other forms of cooperation.
