Ukraine has launched its spring sowing campaign and areas under crops will remain at last year's level – 27.2 million ha.
"As of April 2, some 4,300 hectares had been sown in Kherson region – 4,000 hectares with barley and 300 hectares with peas, while 600 hectares had been sown with barley in Mykolaiv region," Deputy Agriculture Policy and Food Minister Maksym Martynyuk wrote on Facebook on Monday, April 2.

As of March 30, farmers were fully provided with seeds (638,000 tonnes), while demand for fuel was met by 81% (326,000 tonnes) and that for pesticides and herbicides by 91% (27,400 tonnes).
He also said that prices of mineral fertilizers had somewhat declined despite forecasts that they might soar after export duty on this produce originating from Russia was increased from 36.03% to 42.96%.
"In fact, prices of most types of fertilizers (including ammonium nitrate) last week did not go up and even somewhat decreased. It wasn't much, within UAH 100-350, but the trend is indicative," he added.
