Ukraine sees US$ 2.8 bln in agriexports in Jan-Feb 2018

India became a major importer of Ukrainian agricultural and food products.

Ukraine's foreign trade turnover of agricultural complex products in January-February 2018 was estimated at US$3.7 billion, including $2.8 billion in agrarian and food products exports.

"Over the first two months of this year, Ukrainian agrarian exports increased by $102.1 million compared to the corresponding period of 2017, to $2.8 billion. Our major staples of exports traditionally remain grain crops with a share of 35.3%, [vegetable] oil (24.1%), and oilseed (12%), Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva said, as reported by the ministry's press service.

According to the official, over the period under review, significant growth was reported in exports of Ukrainian poultry meat (by $29 million), eggs ($11.4 million), butter ($20 million), chocolate ($7.5 million), and grape wines ($6.1 million).

The deputy minister also noted that India became a major importer of Ukrainian agricultural and food products over the two months of 2018, with shipments worth $335.9 million. The Top 5 leaders also included Spain with $201.1 million, the Netherlands ($199.3 million), Egypt ($189.6 million), and Italy ($185.6 million).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the total revenue from exports of Ukrainian agrarian products in 2017 rose by 16.3% against 2016, to over $17.9 billion. The major staples of Ukrainian agri-exports in 2017 were grain crops, accounting for 36.2% of the export structure, vegetable oils (25.1%), and oilseeds (11.3%.).
