Trade between Ukraine and Egypt hit US$2 billion in 2017.
Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv says Ukraine is ready to implement projects worth $280 million to modernize the Egypt-based Helwan Iron and Steel Company and reconstruct a coke battery at El Nasr for Coke & Chemicals.

"Ukrainian specialists are ready to undertake the modernization of Helwan Iron and Steel Company in Egypt (a project worth $200 million) and the reconstruction of coke battery No. 3 at El Nasr for Coke & Chemicals (about $80 million)," the ministry tweeted on April 26 following a meeting with Egypt's Minister of Public Sector Affairs Khaled Badawi.
As UNIAN reported earlier, trade between Ukraine and Egypt in 2017 was estimated at almost $2 billion. Ukrainian exports to Egypt last year decreased by 19.2%, to $1.83 billion, while imports from Egypt rose by 58.1%, to $77 million. Ukraine saw a surplus of the balance of trade estimated at $1.75 billion.
