Number of millionaires in Ukraine grows by 16% in 2017

The average annual income of a millionaire in Ukraine is estimated at UAH 8.2 million (US$311,669).

Acting head of Ukraine's State Fiscal Service (SFS) Myroslav Prodan says the number of millionaires in Ukraine grew by 16% in 2017 from 2016, to 4,063 people.

"The number of millionaires rose by 16%, or by 559 people, compared with the previous year. At the same time, one citizen declared UAH 1 billion ($38 million) in revenue," the SFS press service quoted Prodan as saying.

The greatest number of millionaires, that is 2,270 people, are aged 45 and older, while 1,605 millionaires are from 30 to 45 years old and 188 people are aged 30. At the same time, the youngest millionaire, a resident of Cherkasy, is seven years old, whereas the oldest one, 99, lives in Kyiv.

"Almost 44% of the total number of millionaires are registered to pay taxes in Kyiv (1,816 people). Among the leaders are also Kharkiv region (299), Dnipropetrovsk region (269), Kyiv region (275) and Odesa region (207)," Prodan said.

According to him, the average annual income of a millionaire in Ukraine is estimated at UAH 8.2 million (US$311,669).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the declaration campaign was launched in Ukraine on January 1, 2018. Citizens must declare incomes received in 2017 before May 1.

Some 513,000 Ukrainians declared their assets during the declaration campaign in 2017. The total amount of declared assets was estimated at UAH 50.8 billion ($1.9 billion), which was 4% higher than the figure in 2016. Payments of individual income tax amounted to UAH 1.62 billion ($61.6 million), and those of war tax to UAH 226.5 million ($8.6 million).
