Ukrainian farmers' exports in Q1 estimated at US$4.3 bln

Ukrainian farmers exported agricultural produce in January-March 2018 to the tune of US$4.3 billion, which corresponds to 38% of Ukraine's total exports for that period.

Products of vegetable origin accounted for the lion's share of agricultural exports (US$2.2 billion), the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has said.

Exports of grain crops alone were estimated at US$1.6 billion.

Exports of fats and oils amounted to US$1.2 billion, those of ready-made foods to US$700 million, live animals and animal products to US$279 million.

In the first quarter of 2018, Ukraine imported farm produce worth US$1.3 billion, which allowed it to form a positive foreign trade balance for this group of goods estimated at US$3 billion.

In particular, imports of live animals and products of animal origin were estimated at US$210 million, those of vegetable products at US$570 million, fats and oils at US$65 million, finished food products at US$498 million.

As UNIAN reported, agricultural produce exports in the first three months of 2017 totaled US$4.6 billion, which was 38.3% up from January-March 2016.
