"We will soon have daily withdrawal [of water] from the reservoirs into the [water supply] network equal to its daily evaporation into the sky," Bazhenov told Krymskaya Gazeta.

Noteworthy, the water coming from the Dnipro River on mainland Ukraine through the North Crimean Canal provided up to 85% of the peninsula needs. After the annexation of Crimea by Russia in the spring of 2014, the supply of water through the canal was stopped by the decision of the Ukrainian authorities.

It was earlier reported an emergency mode due to drought was announced in Krasnohvardiiske, Nyzhniohirskiy, Pervomaiske and Sovietskiy districts in occupied Crimea from June 2, 2018.
