Ukraine harvests 281,000 tonnes of grain as of June 19

Ukrainian agrarians have threshed 281.500 tonnes of grain from 86,000 hectares as of June 19 since the start of the early grain crops harvesting.

The average yield of cereals is estimated at 3.26 tonnes per hectare, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service.

In particular, the farmers harvested 10,000 tonnes of winter wheat from 4,000 ha with a yield of 2.62 tonnes per ha and 268,000 tonnes of winter barley from 81,000 ha (3.30 tonnes per ha).

Agrarians also harvested 2,000 tonnes of peas from a 1,000-hectare area with a yield of 2.27 tonnes per ha.

Ukrainian farmers started harvesting winter rapeseed crops in Zaporizhia, Odesa and Kherson regions, having threshed 6,000 tonnes of this product from an area of 3,000 ha with a yield of 1.74 tonnes per ha.

As UNIAN reported, experts said earlier grain harvest might grow by 3% in Ukraine in the 2018-2019 marketing year, to 61.85 million tonnes. The positive forecast was based on the use of new technologies, seeds-hybrids, irrigation and favorable weather conditions.
