Ukrainian farmers thresh 1.7 mln tonnes of new grain

Ukrainian farmers had threshed 1.7 million tonnes of new grain from an area of 559,000 hectares as of June 25.

The average crop yield is 3.07 tonnes per hectare, the press center of Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry reported on June 25.

In particular, agrarians harvested 552,000 tonnes of winter wheat from 185,000 hectares with a yield of 2.98 tonnes per hectare; 1.1 million tonnes of winter barley from 355,000 hectares with a yield of 3.2 tonnes per hectare.

Agrarians also harvested 29,000 tonnes of peas from 19,000 hectares with a yield of 1.56 tonnes per hectare.

Also, a harvesting campaign began in Zaporizhia, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Vinnytsia regions to gather winter rapeseeds, of which 130,000 tonnes were threshed from an area of 75,000 hectares with a yield of 1.74 tonnes per hectare.

As UNIAN reported, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, despite the drought, kept its forecast for grain harvest in 2018-2019 MY at the level of 60 million tonnes.

According to the State Statistics Service, the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2017 decreased by 7.3% compared to 2016, to 61.3 million tonnes.
