National Bank inspects 506 foreign exchange booths in H1

The regulator identified 39 illegally working foreign exchange booths.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in the first half of 2018 (H1) conducted 506 inspections of non-bank financial institutions' units (foreign exchange booths) to check compliance with the procedures for organizing and transacting forex operations.

The inspections were performed in the city of Kyiv, as well as in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, and Chernivtsi regions.

The regulator over the period under review identified 39 foreign exchange booths that were operating illegally in the city of Kyiv, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy regions.

The central bank handed the findings of the inspections over to law enforcement authorities.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank conducted 1,018 inspections of non-bank financial institutions' units in 2017, having exposed 115 illegal foreign exchange booths.
