Ukraine's gas output shrinks by 0.6% to almost 12 bcm in Jan-July

Ukrgazvydobuvannya increased natural gas output by 0.73% in the seven months of 2018.

State-owned operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system Ukrtransgaz says extraction of natural gas in Ukraine in January-July of 2018 shrank by 0.6% year-over-year (y-o-y), to 11.972 billion cubic meters (bcm).

In particular, gas output at Ukraine's largest natural gas producer Ukrgazvydobuvannya over the period under review grew by 0.73% to 8.84 bcm. The Ukrainian largest oil producer Ukrnafta in January-July of 2018 produced 610.3 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas, while other companies extracted 2.52 bcm.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the state-owned and private extracting companies in Ukraine increased gas output by 3.1% in 2017 from 2016, to 20.8 bcm. The country reduced gas consumption in 2017 by 4%, to 31.9 bcm.

According to the government's program for increasing gas production and reducing its consumption, it is planned that Ukrgazvydobuvannya's gas output will be equal to the consumption of natural gas by households and district-level central heating providers, that is 20 bcm of gas.
