Police hope to prevent smuggling of weapons, drugs, and explosives.
Ukrainian law enforcers began inspections in all passenger trains that run through the territory of Luhansk region, according to the press service of the local police department.
The report says the efforts are part of the set of measures aimed at preventing smuggling of weapons and drugs from the area of the Joint Forces Operation to other regions of Ukraine.
The checks are being carried by spec-ops police battalion, K9 units, and Skif Battalion.

"Enhanced preventive measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens who are moving by rail, as well as blocking smuggling of weapons, ammunition and explosives, preventing crime and accidents with their use," the report said.
Earlier it was reported that a serious arsenal of ammunition was revealed in a freight train in Zaporizhia region.
