Ukraine boosts fruit, berry exports by almost 60% in H1

Ukraine in January-June 2018 shipped fruit and berry to more than 50 countries.

Ukrainian farmers in the first half of 2018 (H1) boosted fruit and berry exports by 59% year-over-year (y-o-y), to US$100 million.

Over the period under review, Ukraine shipped fruit and berry to more than 50 countries, including the European Union states, the Eurasian Economic Union states (except Russia), as well as African, European and a number of Asian countries, according to Ukraine's State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service.

As reported, due to Ukraine's membership in the World Trade Organization and the International Plant Protection Convention, plant products exports can be carried out without hindrance provided that the phytosanitary requirements of importer countries are met.

In addition, the regulator is studying the demand for Ukrainian products in a number of countries, which require the signing of international treaties for imports. Moreover, the agency is in contact with specialized associations.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine harvested 2 million tonnes of fruits and berries in 2017.
