PM Groysman outlines tasks for his government

The government should create conditions for the development of farming.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has tasked his Cabinet of Ministers to ensure the growth of the economy through support of key industries, as well as to provide the country with qualified personnel.

"Economic growth is the most important task," he said at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, September 19. "Then goes the support of those sectors that have a potential for growth [coupled with measures] to provide the national economy with qualified Ukrainian workers."

"These are the tasks that we must perform in future," he said.

According to the prime minister, special attention should be given to the development of the agro-industrial complex, which generates, together with processing, 17% of GDP. Groysman pointed out that the government should create conditions for the development of farming.

As UNIAN reported, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reviewed upwards its estimate of real GDP growth in the second quarter of 2018 to 3.8%, compared to the second quarter of 2017, against the previous forecast set at 3.6%, according to an August update.

The National Bank predicts GDP growth in Ukraine in 2018 will be 3.4% amid 8.9% inflation, while the government forecasts a 3.2% increase in GDP amid 9.9% inflation. The International Monetary Fund expects Ukraine's economy will grow by 3.2% this year, while inflation will be 11%. In turn, the World Bank predicts a 3.5% GDP growth with 10% inflation.
