A total of 40 sugar refineries were in operation in Ukraine as of November 5.
Ukrainian sugar refineries have produced 1.03 million tonnes of sugar since August 30, when the current sugar production season began with the launch of a sugar refinery in Tomashpil, Vinnytsia region.

"As of November 5, some 1.03 million tonnes of sugar had been produced and 7.9 million tonnes of sugar beets had been processed," the press service of the Ukrtsukor sugar producers' association said in a statement.
As reported, 40 sugar refineries out of the planned 42 were in operation in Ukraine as of November 5.
As UNIAN reported earlier, slightly less than 2 million tonnes of sugar is expected to be produced in the current marketing year (MY, September 2018-August 2019).
Ukrainian enterprises during the sugar refining season of 2017-2018 MY boosted sugar production by 6.5%, to 2.14 million tonnes.
