Nearly 12,000 smartphones and accessories to them, as well as computer equipment brought from China have been seized at the Boryspil Airport outside Kyiv.

These are hundreds of USB-modems and hundreds of memory cards, hard drives, USB flash drives, hard drives, and other items, according to Hromadske.

In late summer, the cargo sent from Hong Kong to the Ukrainian company arrived at the Kyiv customs of the State Fiscal Service (SFS). It was placed in the airport's temporary storage warehouse.

The declaration claimed there were personal belongings inside the cargo batch.

Soon the customs broker turned to the customs officers with a submission to register the cargo for transit as it had been delivered to the recipient company "by mistake." The SFS clarified that during the transit movement of cargo, the company pays no import taxes provided by law.

The customs officers then required an explanation from the recipient company, but company representatives never showed up for questioning. In this regard, the customs officers inspected the cargo and revealed a batch of mobile phones, accessories to them, and computers instead of the specified "personal belongings."

The customs officers recorded a violation of customs regulations under Article 483 of the Customs Code (concealment from customs control) and seized the goods until the court decision.
