Ukraine has tested a new Neptune anti-ship cruise missile.

On December 5, during Army Day celebrations, Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak reported on the successful completion of live fire tests, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

“Literally 10 minutes ago, I received a report on the successful completion of the tests of the anti-ship complex, Neptune, on the extension of life and modernization of the 125th complex, as well as test launches on sea targets,” Poltorak said.

According to the minister, this indicates that the country is "drawing conclusions."

Poltorak added that during the period of martial law, the entire defense complex is operating in a special mode. In particular, measures are being taken related to the enhanced military training of brigades, replenishment of resources, and preparation of military reserves.

"It is planned to redeploy parts of the divisions in risk areas to ensure maximum protection of the lives of our people," the minister said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in January 2018, state tests of the new Neptune cruise missile were launched. The new weapon is capable of hitting ground and sea targets at a 300 km distance. In the future, the range will be extended to 500 km or more.

It is important that all components are Ukrainian-made, making the project independent of any foreign influence.
