Ukraine snowstorms: Tree falls on railway tracks, power line, causes delays

Some long distance trains will arrive behind schedule, according to Ukrzaliznytsia.

Ukrainian state-owned railway company Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) on December 13 reported delays of a number of trains due to the fall of a tree in Kyiv region, which led to a power line breakdown.

"Due to the fall of a tree in Kyiv region, which caused the breakdown of a railway power line, a number of passenger trains are running late. The incident occurred on the 51st kilometer of the Klavdiievo- Borodianka section at 05:12," the company's press service said in a statement on December 13.

Repair crews are working to restore the line, the report says.

However, some commuter and long-distance trains are being delayed. In particular, it's No. 98 Kovel-Kyiv, No. 705 Kyiv-Przemysl, and No. 92 Lviv-Kyiv.

"Ukrzaliznytsia apologizes for the temporary inconvenience and takes all measures to eliminate as soon as possible the consequences of poor weather conditions. We urge passengers to pay attention to announcements at railway stations," the press service added.
