Real wage in Ukraine rises 13% in Jan-Oct

The minister of social policy states that next year, the minimum wage will increase by 12.1% to UAH 4,173 starting January.

Real wages in Ukraine in January-October 2018 increased by 13%, according to Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva.

“The average monthly salary in the country in January-October of this year increased by 25.6% and amounted to UAH 8,660. Real wages were up by 13%,” Reva said, speaking at an annual press conference, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

The minister added that next year, the minimum wage will increase by 12.1% to UAH 4,173 starting January.

“Thanks to the revival of economic development, we are seeing positive trends in the labor market in 2018 regarding employment growth and shrinking unemployment. According to the State Statistics Service, in the first half of the year, the employment rate increased from 56% to 56.8% compared with the same period last year. The unemployment rate, which is calculated according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization, fell from 9.6% to 8.9%,” the minister noted.
