Ukraine's SkyUp licensed to fly to Montenegro, Czech Republic, Israel

Privately owned SkyUp Airlines was registered in Kyiv in June 2017.

Ukraine's State Aviation Administration on December 27 issued permits to Ukrainian-based SkyUp Airlines for regular flights on a number of routes to Montenegro, the Czech Republic, and Israel.

SkyUp will fly from March 31, 2019, from Kyiv (three flights a week) to Podgorica (Montenegro); from Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv (three flights a week) to Prague (the Czech Republic); from Kyiv (three flights a week) to Karlovy Vary (the Czech Republic); from Kharkiv (twice a week) to Tel Aviv (Israel), the aviation watchdog said on its website.

In addition, the State Aviation Administration allowed SkyUp to increase the frequency of regular flights from Kyiv: to Alicante (Spain) from two to three flights a week; to Batumi (Georgia) from three to 10 flights; to Burgas (Bulgaria) from three to five flights, and to Larnaca (Cyprus) from three to five flights a week.

However, the State Aviation Service denied the issue of licenses to the airlines for flights from Lviv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia (two flights a week) to Podgorica (Montenegro) and from Kharkiv (two flights a week) to Tirana (Albania).

Privately owned SkyUp Airlines was registered in Kyiv in June 2017. Its first commercial flight was from Kyiv to Hurghada on May 21, 2018. Prior to that, it carried out charter flights only.

It became known early October 2018 that the company received a Third Country Operator license from EASA, allowing it to fly to 28 EU states and four other countries, namely Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.

On October 22, SkyUp launched ticket sales for flights from Kyiv to Tbilisi (Georgia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Poprad (Slovakia) and Barcelona (Spain), which will be launched from December 2018.

In May and June 2019, flights will start on the following routes from Kyiv: Batumi (Georgia), Larnaca (Cyprus), Rimini (Italy), Naples (Italy), Sicily (Catania), Alicante (Spain), and Tenerife (Spain's Canary Islands).
