Ukraine shrinks oilseeds exports by almost 9% since July 1, 2018

Ukrainian farmers have already exported more than 25 million tonnes of grains.

Ukrainian agribusinesses as of January 10, 2019, reduced oilseeds exports by 8.5% since July 1, 2018, when the 2018-2019 marketing year began (MY, July 2018 - June 2019), to 3.2 million tonnes, compared to the figure posted as of January 10, 2018.

More than 3.2 million tonnes of oilseeds was shipped abroad in the current marketing year, whereas 3.5 million tonnes of oilseeds was exported in the same period last year, the press service of the State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service, referring to the data of the Department for Phytosanitary Security, Control in Seed Production and Seedling.

Over the period under review, Ukraine exported 25 million tonnes of grains against 22 million tonnes as of January 10, 2018, the report said.

In particular, Ukraine exported 10.8 million tonnes of wheat, including 6.7 million tonnes of food-grade wheat and 4.1 million tonnes of fodder wheat, as well as more than 3 million tonnes of barley and over 10 million tonnes of maize, the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agrarians in the 2017-2018 MY exported 39.9 million tonnes of grains, according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.

Oilseeds exports in the 2017-2018 MY soared by 52% compared with the 2016-2017 MY, up to 3.5 million tonnes.
