Ukraine among TOP 5 agricultural exporters to EU in 2018 – report

At the same time, it is noted that Ukraine has reduced agri-exports to the EU by 4.9% year-on-year.

Ukraine got into the top five largest agri-food product exporters to the European Union, having delivered on its markets agricultural products worth US$5.4 billion from November 2017 to October 2018, that's according to the European Commission's report titled "Monitoring EU Agri-Food Trade: Development until October 2018."

"The most important origins for EU agri-food imports over the past 12 months (EUR billion) remain Brazil (12.0) and the USA (11.5), followed by China, Argentina, Ukraine, Switzerland, Turkey and Indonesia, each accounting for between EUR 4.4 and 5.5 billion," the report says.

At the same time, it is noted that during the reporting period, Ukraine reduced agri-exports to the EU by 4.9% compared with November 2016 – October 2017, when the figure was at about $5.4 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukraine-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement entered into force on January 1, 2017.

Exports of Ukrainian agricultural and food products to European countries in 2017 grew by over 37%, or by US$1.6 billion, to $5.8 billion, exceeding record $5 bln exports to these markets in pre-crisis years of 2012 and 2013 and reaching the highest figures since the country gained independence.

In 2017, the European Union imported agricultural products to Ukraine worth $2.27 billion.
