In total, almost $2 billion will be spent on the country's road sector.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says UAH 4 billion, or US$142 million, will be allocated in 2019 for the construction of a high-speed road between Poland's Gdansk on the Baltic Sea and Ukraine's Odesa on the Black Sea as part of the Go Highway project.

"The Go Highway route is a transnational [transport] corridor that will connect the Ukrainian Black Sea ports of Odesa and Mykolaiv with the Polish ports on the Baltic Sea in Gdansk and Gdynia. The project is very important in terms of logistics. It will simplify and reduce the price of cargo transportation from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. About 1,000 kilometers of road will pass via Ukraine," he wrote on Facebook on January 14.
In 2019, Ukraine will continue large-scale road repairs. "We're earmarking UAH 4 billion for these purposes," Groysman said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, about UAH 20 billion ($710 million) will be allocated for the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of public roads of state importance in 2019 from the total amount of UAH 34.4 billion ($1.2 billion) envisaged by the Road Fund for such roads. In total, almost UAH 56 billion ($2 billion) will be spent on the country's road sector.
UNIAN memo. Go Highway is a project of a transnational transport corridor to link ports of the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea. The total length of the route will be 1,746 km (658 km in Poland and 1,088 km in Ukraine). The costs of the project are estimated at EUR 1 billion. Go Highway was initiated by Ukraine's Ukravtodor in 2017. It is supported by the World Bank, which sponsored a feasibility report.
