Ukraine's Asset Recovery and Management Agency reports on assets revealed in 2018

Over 220 real estate facilities were seized last year.

Chief of the National Agency for the Recovery of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes, also known as Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) Anton Yanchuk says the agency in 2018 revealed UAH 21.16 billion (US$783.1 million) in corporate rights and UAH 557 million ($20.614 million) in securities.

In addition, ARMA traced 1,093 real estate assets, 4,457 land plots, and 3,758 vehicles, he said at a press conference on February 25.

Yanchuk added that his agency responds only to requests from the relevant authorities. There were 1,064 requests last year. In particular, the prosecution authorities submitted 493 requests for asset searches, 275 requests were filed by the National Police and 134 by the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine. "All this information was documented and revealed at the request of law enforcement agencies. Following this, it was delivered to them," he said.

According to Yanchuk, more than 220 real estate facilities were seized last year, which he considers to be a good result. He also added that UAH 253.21 million ($9.4 million) was earmarked in the 2018 national budget for ARMA, of which UAH 92.69 million ($3.4 million) was used, while the rest was returned to the State Treasury.

UNIAN memo. ARMA is a special government agency, authorized to formulate and implement state policy in the sphere of tracing and finding assets that are subject to seizure, as well as management of seized assets in criminal proceedings. The agency began work in October 2017.
