Ukraine boosts construction works by 5% in Jan

Construction firms in Kyiv alone reduced their operations by 21.3%, to UAH 1.385 billion ($51.4 million).

Ukrainian construction firms in January 2019 boosted construction works by 5% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 6.527 billion (US$242.1 million).

The construction of buildings over the period under review grew by 11.6%, to UAH 3.479 billion ($129 million). However, construction of residential buildings dropped by 0.2%, to UAH 1.609 billion ($59.7 million), while construction of commercial buildings rose by 30.5%, to UAH 1.87 billion ($69.4 million). Moreover, construction of engineering facilities declined by 3.8%, to UAH 3.047 billion ($113 million), the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

Greenfield construction projects, renovation, and technical re-equipment over the period under review accounted for 79.3% of all construction works, while the share of overhauls and maintenance repairs was at 10.7% and 10%, respectively.

Construction firms in Kyiv alone reduced their operations by 21.3%, to UAH 1.385 billion ($51.4 million), over the period under review, accounting for 21.2% of the total construction works across the country.

The report does not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's construction firms in 2018 boosted construction by 4.4% against 2017, to UAH 136 billion ($5 billion).
