The candidates presented their programs for the development of the tax service to the members of the competition commission. Then, within an hour, they answered questions from businesses' envoys, Members of Parliament, experts, and commission members.

"Serhiy Verlanov scored a total of 16.45 points, Serhiy Petukhov scored 13.54 points, while Dmytro Oleksiyenko failed to receive enough points for a rating score. According to the results of the evaluation, the Commission recommended that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appoint Serhiy Verlanov as chairman of the State Tax Service," the ministry reported.

UNIAN memo. In December 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to unbundle the State Fiscal Service (SFS) of Ukraine by splitting it into the State Tax Service and the State Customs Service.

According to the Memorandum on a new cooperation program between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund, the SFS's reorganization is to be completed by the end of April this year.

However, on April 17, Kyiv's District Administrative Court by its ruling suspended a tender for the selection of the head of the State Customs Service over a lawsuit lodged by MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Andriy Antonishchak and banned the Commission on Senior Civil Service to conduct the competition. In turn, the Commission announced the suspension of the competitive selection until the court decision was overturned.

Prior to this, the Commission managed to complete one of the competition stages, having shortlisted candidates for the post of head of the State Customs Service, namely Vice-Rector of the University of Customs and Finance Yevhen Harmash, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Maksym Nefyodov, and head of the public organization Center for the Development of the Digital Economy Andriy Savarets.
