Ukraine boosts construction works by 26.3% in Jan-May

Construction firms in Kyiv alone increased their operations by 19.4%, to US$465.8 million.

Ukrainian construction firms in January-May 2019 boosted construction works by 26.3% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 51.824 billion (US$1.98 billion).

The construction of buildings over the period under review grew by 14.8%, to UAH 25.719 billion (US$982 million). However, the construction of residential buildings dropped by 2.7%, to UAH 11.711 billion (US$447 million), while the construction of commercial buildings rose by 36.2%, to UAH 14 billion (US$535 million). Moreover, the construction of engineering facilities increased by 40.6%, to UAH 26.1 billion (US$997 million) y-o-y, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

Greenfield construction projects, renovation, and technical re-equipment over the period under review accounted for 78.8% of all construction works, while the share of overhauls and maintenance repairs was 12.8% and 8.4%, respectively.

Construction firms in Kyiv alone increased their operations by 19.4%, to UAH 12.2 billion (US$465.8 million), over the period under review, accounting for 23.5% of the total construction works across the country.

The report does not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's construction firms in 2018 boosted construction by 4.4% against 2017, to UAH 136 billion (US$5 billion).
