The codes will apply to residential buildings up to and including 73.5 meters high.
Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utility Services of Ukraine Lev Partskhaladze says the new State Building Codes (SBC) titled "Residential Buildings. Key Provisions" for the design of residential buildings in Ukraine will come into force on December 1, 2019.

"They [the new SBC] allow designing built-in kitchens in apartments, increase the requirements for energy efficiency of housing, its inclusiveness and affordability, provide mandatory elevators in buildings with four and more floors, remove the old norm of designing radio points in each apartment, allow building public institutions on any floor, as well as introduce many other changes," the agency's press service quoted Partskhaladze as saying on August 21.
It is noted the mandatory new building codes will apply to new construction, reconstruction, overhaul and technical re-equipment of residential buildings up to and including 73.5 meters high.
At the same time, the design of taller houses will be regulated by the relevant building codes for high-rise buildings.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utility Services developed a new bill on the comprehensive reconstruction of neighborhoods of obsolete housing stock, which introduces reconstruction of obsolete housing without reference to the number of storeys in buildings. Now, only buildings up to five floors may undergo reconstruction. However, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has not backed the bill so far.
