The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ukraine considers the recent statements by U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton about the China-Ukraine cooperation with regard to Zaporizhia-based JSC Motor Sich unfriendly.

"The other day, U.S. President's National Security Adviser John Bolton arrived in Ukraine on a visit, during which he spoke out in an unfriendly manner with respect to cooperation between China and Ukraine," the Ukrainian news outlet LIGA.net reported on August 29, referring to the Embassy's press service.

Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Du Wei is expected to hold a briefing at the embassy on August 30 to present China's official position in response to Bolton's statements, the report said.

Zaporizhia-based JSC Motor Sich, Ukraine's largest manufacturer of airplane and helicopter engines as well as gas turbines, is one of the main aviation enterprises of the post-Soviet space. The enterprise supplies its products to more than 100 countries.

Bolton during his Kyiv visit on August 27 warned Ukraine about risks of China's "unfair economic practices".

As earlier reported by The Wall Street Journal, Bolton will try to convince the Ukrainian government not to sell Motor Sich to the Chinese holding Beijing Skyrizon Aviation. The White House believes this deal will give Beijing vital defense technology and allow it to expand its military capabilities.

China is interested in buying more than 50% stake of Motor Sich. Ukraine's state-run Ukroboronprom military-industrial concern may get another 25% stake free of charge. The Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine must approved the deal. According to media reports, the Chinese side is committed to contribute US$ 100 million to Ukraine's national budget for the development of the aircraft industry.
