Ukraine's largest air carrier, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), has appointed former First Deputy Director General of the Boryspil International Airport, Yevhen Dykhne, its new President.

"Yevhen Dykhne has been appointed new president of the company. The company's shareholders have long been analyzing the situation. Dykhne was appointed based on the fact that he has extensive experience and achieved significant results at the Boryspil Airport," Head of the UIA Supervisory Board Aron Mayberg said at a press conference on Sept 9.

Mayberg says Dykhne, who will take office on Sept 18, received a key task of bringing the company to profitability amid stable development.

At the same time, he added that the resignation from the post of former UIA President Yuriy Miroshnikov is not associated with his poor performance.

"Miroshnikov has been performing well, but some issues have not been resolved. They can be resolved by shrinkng the company. But it will be another enterprise. Miroshnikov worked as president for 15 years. It's too long. The company needs new ideas and fresh blood," Mayberg said.

He says Miroshnikov will remain at UIA at a different position.

According to the decision passed at the shareholders' general meeting, Yuriy Miroshnikov was elected member of the UIA Supervisory Board. He will take up his duties on Sept 13.
