Cabinet in Ukraine mulling "serious" cuts in expenditures on state apparatus

The prime minister made the comment on Sunday, before the Cabinet submitted the draft budget to parliament later the same day.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to significantly reduce spending on government agencies next year.

This was announced by Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk as he spoke at a briefing in Kyiv on Sunday.

"The year of 2020 should be the year when we seriously cut and reduce spending on government and make it more efficient," Honcharuk told reporters.

The prime minister noted that the government planned to reduce the cost of servicing the state apparatus. "[We need to] make it more effective. We see a certain space for work. We spend a lot of state money inefficiently," the head of government emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that in two-week's term it is impossible to reflect in the state budget all ideas regarding the cuts in government spending.

As reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers on Sunday submitted to Parliament a draft State Budget of Ukraine 2020 for consideration at first reading.
