Average wage in Ukraine grows to US$436 in Aug

The average nominal salary of a full-time employee fell by 4.0% in Ukraine in August 2019 against July 2019, while rising by 17.4% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 10,537, or US$436.

The real wage index in August 2019 from July 2019 was 96.3%, against 107.7% in August 2018, the State Statistics Service reported.

The average nominal salary of a full-time employee at Ukrainian enterprises, institutions and organizations in August 2019 was 2.5 times up from the minimum wage in Ukraine (UAH 4,173/$173).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the minimum wage in Ukraine grew on January 1, 2019, from UAH 3,723 ($153) to UAH 4,173 ($173).

The National Bank of Ukraine expects a slowdown in the growth of wages and salaries in Ukraine, forecasting an increase in nominal wages by 16% and by 10% (or by 7% and 5% in real hryvnias) in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
