Ukraine's State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service says the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's order simplifying the transportation of animals into the territory of Ukraine from abroad will become effective from November 24.

The document refers to requirements for imports (shipments) of live animals and their reproductive material, animal source foods, animal feed, hay, straw, animal by-products and processed products into the customs territory of Ukraine, the agency's press service said in a statement on October 21.

According to the document, the animals may be imported into the customs territory of Ukraine only from the facilities whose compliance with Ukrainian legislation has been established after relevant inspections. Ukraine's competent authority shall also assess the effectiveness of its counterpart in the exporting country. Imports are also allowed if an agreement on equivalency has already been concluded with an exporting state.
So, shipments of animals into the territory of Ukraine will be greatly simplified, the press service said.
