Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with co-founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Limited Jack Ma, during which the Ukrainian leader proposed that the Chinese businessman and investor consider the possibility of opening a research and development (R&D) center in Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine is able to offer investors, in particular Alibaba, many interesting business opportunities, the presidential press service said.

In particular, the president noted, over 100 R&D centers of world famous companies such as Samsung, Boeing, Ericsson, Huawei, Oracle, Siemens have opened in Ukraine in recent years. Therefore, Zelensky proposes that the possibility of opening such a center in Ukraine be also considered to strengthen Alibaba's operations in the European region.
"We have very ambitious goals. We want to completely reboot Ukraine so that people like you could appear in the country," Zelensky told Jack Ma.
In addition, Zelensky recalled that some of the best data analytics specialists in the world are in Ukraine, and the country can offer really strong expertise in creating a data analytics and artificial intelligence center.
He also expressed interest in joint educational projects, in particular in the field of information technology, because Ukraine seeks to create a competitive IT product.
