Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said Ukraine will have to get compensation if sanctions introduced by Western powers over Russian aggression toward Ukraine are abolished.

"There's aggression, there's a violation by a certain state of the basic legal order of the entire continent, so sanctions have been imposed. If someone decides to lift them without justification, then certain compensators are required. But the first task is to prevent the lifting of sanctions," Kuleba said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, the task of diplomacy and politics is to get the maximum benefit in exchange for breaking a promise.

"In general, we're living in an era of broken promises. Now the vows are being broken one after another, at all levels. We must understand that any promise can be broken at any moment. But this is the task of diplomacy and politics to either not allow this or get maximum benefits in exchange for a broken promise. This is the way politics work," Kuleba added.
