Imports of petroleum products to Ukraine shrink 1.8%, to almost US$4.4 bln in Jan-Oct

The major supplier of petroleum products is Belarus.

Ukraine's petroleum products imports in January-October 2019 shrank to 6.95 million tonnes year-over-year (y-o-y), having reduced by 1.8% in monetary terms, to US$4.389 billion.

In particular, the country imported petroleum products worth US$1.69 billion from Belarus (38.69% of the cost of petroleum products imports), US$1.55 billion from Russia (35.4%), US$491 million from Lithuania (11.2%), and US$645.7 million from other countries, the State Fiscal Service reported.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2018, Ukraine increased foreign currency spending on fuel imports by 31%, to US$5.5 billion.

In 2017, Ukraine imported petroleum products worth US$4.159 billion, which was 27.3% down from 2016.

Russia has restricted exports of Russian oil and petroleum products to Ukraine. Starting from June 1, 2019, coal, oil, and petroleum products could only be exported to Ukraine based on special permits issued by Russia's relevant agency.
