"The Supervisory Board and the [Management] Board of the bank continue ensuring the financial institution's efficient operation and guarantee its customers and partners the bank's work in a trouble-free and regular mode," Ukreximbank's Boards said in a statement on November 17.

Moreover, they say they are ready to assist law enforcement agencies in the investigation and provide all the necessary information to clarify the circumstances of the case.

As UNIAN reported earlier, certain media outlets reported that unidentified persons had kidnapped the head of Ukreximbank, Oleksandr Hrytsenko, in Kyiv on November 16.

Later it became known that the SBU, on request of the Prosecutor General's Office, detained Hrytsenko on Saturday and placed him in Kyiv's temporary detention center.

The SBU spokeswoman, Olena Gitlianska, says that Hrytsenko is suspected of being part of a criminal organization. He also faces charges of embezzlement and money laundering.

According to the SBU, he was detained within criminal proceedings on the grounds of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 255, Part 5 of Article 191, and Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
