Electronic driver's licenses will be available for Ukrainian drivers as early as December 2019, said Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.

"Two or three weeks before the new year, it will be possible to enjoy a digital license," he said in an interview with Radio Liberty.

He said that everything is ready for the introduction of changes to the legislation in terms of a normative framework.

"The application is already being tested. That is, I've already seen it. Every day we have regular meetings with our developers, with our team. That is, everything is about to be completed. It seems to me that in the first days of December we'll have everything ready for release. We'll be waiting for a good opportunity to hold such a great presentation to make sure many people learn about it. I think this is possible at the 'Government's 100 days' event. That is, mid-December. But everything will be ready in early December," Fedorov said.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, over the nine months of 2019, police issued about 160,000 fines to drivers failing to present a valid license or registration.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on October 23, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted decisions that will allow launching in the near future a number of online services, among them a mobile application for drivers, as reported by the Cabinet press service with reference to Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.

"All drivers will be allowed not to carry their driver's license at all times, while car owners will not have to carry their registration," the Cabinet press service said, referring to Honcharuk. "Our goal is to transfer all services online before 2024."
