Ukraine, Estonia sign memorandum of cooperation in digital transformation

The document aims to improve the electronic and administrative service delivery system, develop e-trust and electronic identification services, build an effective cybersecurity management model and related IT infrastructure, connect it with European cyber centers, as well as ensure citizens' access to public information.

In Tallinn, in presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, the Memorandum of cooperation in the field of digital transformation was signed between the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Estonia.

"I am pleased to announce that Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov and Minister of Foreign Trade and Information Technology of the Republic of Estonia Kaimar Karu will sign a very important memorandum that opens a whole new era in the Ukrainian-Estonian digital relations," Volodymyr Zelensky said during a speech at the Digital society sandbox forum as part of an official visit to Estonia, his press service reports.

The purpose of the Memorandum is to create and develop collaborative mechanisms to facilitate actions aimed at defining a common vision and joint action for sustainable digital development, building digital economy, implementing digital innovations, building e-mobile governance, developing e-democracy, information society, digital skills and digital rights of citizens, national electronic information resources, broadband Internet and telecommunications infrastructure, electronic commerce and IT industry.

In addition, the document aims to improve the electronic and administrative service delivery system, develop e-trust and electronic identification services, build an effective cybersecurity management model and related IT infrastructure, connect it with European cyber centers, as well as ensure citizens' access to public information.

According to the Memorandum, cooperation can take various forms. In particular, this could be an exchange of experts in the field of digital transformations in the framework of visits of Ukrainian professionals to Estonia and Estonian professionals – to Ukraine, setting up seminars, conferences, forums, sharing knowledge and experience in the field of digital development through exchange of regulatory and information documents, organization of educational visits for retraining and professional development of specialists in the field of digital transformation.
