The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will continue cooperation with Ukrainian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism industry in 2020.

"The potential in this sector is large, but underestimated. Our goal is to help systematize and open this potential, to show what this sector is capable of. Now we help small and medium-sized enterprises to develop through consulting services, trainings and workshops. This program is available and will continue to be available in 2020," EBRD Principal Manager on Advice for Small Businesses Ekaterina Rigg told journalists.

According to Rigg, the program provides for the development of private travel companies through non-financial tools, when for example, the EBRD pays companies' costs to search for consultants and their services, develop websites, etc.

She added that the exact amount of investments received under this program in the Ukrainian tourism sector would be known early in 2020.

A strategy for the development of tourism in Ukraine, the first step of which should be legislative changes in the sector and reorganization of statistics on tourism, the development and promotion of the Ukrainian tourism brand, as well as better availability of transport.

As UNIAN reported, the EBRD in the ten months of 2019 invested over EUR 1 billion in Ukraine's economy and expects a record volume of investment for the year.
