Inflation in Ukraine slows to 5.1% in Nov y-o-y

Over the period under review, a decrease in prices was reported for natural gas, eggs, fuel and oils, clothes and shoes, and sunflower oil.

Inflation in Ukraine in November 2019 slowed to 5.1% year-over-year (y-o-y) against 6.5% recorded in October 2019 y-o-y.

Consumer prices in Ukraine grew by 0.1% in November 2019 from October 2019 (after rising by 0.7% in October against September), while rising 4.3% from December 2018, the State Statistics Service said.

The highest increase in November 2019, in annual terms, was recorded for fruit (by 19.5%), railway passenger transport (19.1%), hot water and central heating (16.8%), vegetables (14.5%), and education (13.6%).

Over the period under review, prices dropped for natural gas (by 19.7%), eggs (16.1%), fuel and oils (12.6%), clothes and shoes (1.4%), and sunflower oil (0.5%).

The State Statistics Service said the report does not include data from Russian-occupied areas in Crimea, Sevastopol and parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in October 2019 stood at 6.5% y-o-y, having slowed from 7.5% recorded in September 2019 y-o-y.

In 2018, inflation in Ukraine slowed to 9.8% against 13.7% in 2017, which was the lowest indicator in the past five years.
