Ukraine sees 1.8% decline in industrial output in 2019

The State Statistics Service says its report doesn't include data from the Russia-occupied territories.

Ukraine saw a 1.8% decline in industrial output in 2019 compared to a 1.1% increase in 2018.

Industrial production in December 2019 from December 2018 fell by 8.3% with calendar adjustment and by 7.7% without calendar adjustment, Ukraine's State Statistics Service said on its website.

Industrial production in December 2019 from November 2019 declined by 1.1% with calendar adjustment and by 1.7% without calendar adjustment.

The steepest decline in 2019 compared to 2018 was recorded in the manufacture of electrical equipment (19.9%), the textile industry (9.9%), the manufacture of vehicles (9.7%), and the woodworking industry (5.8%), machine building (5.6%), production of coke and processing of crude oil (5.1%).

At the same time, the pharmaceutical industry showed a 5.1% increase, while the production of computers, electronic and optical products grew by 4.3%. The chemical industry reported a 3.3% increase in output, the production of crude oil and natural gas grew by 2%, the production of other machinery and equipment increased by 1.4%, and furniture and other products by 0.2%. The food industry also posted a 0.2% increase.

The State Statistics Service says its report doesn't include data from the Russia-occupied territories, namely the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as certain districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, industrial production in Ukraine in 2018 increased by 1.1% after falling by 0.1% in 2017. In 2016, industrial production in Ukraine grew by 2.8% for the first time after four years of decline in 2012-2015.
