EBRD President names Ukraine among Top 3 priority countries in region

President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Suma Chakrabarti, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of reforms in Ukraine, ranking the country among the Top 3 priorities in the region.

"The EBRD President commended the progress of reforms in Ukraine, calling our country among the Top 3 priorities in the region. The international financial structure is considering opportunities for new projects in Ukraine," the Ukrainian President's Office quoted Zelensky as saying on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 22, after the meeting with Chakrabarti.

Zelensky thanked the EBRD President for a project portfolio of EUR 1.115 billion in Ukraine in 2019.

"I am very pleased that our constructive cooperation has produced such results. And I hope it will become our new normal level of cooperation," he said.

"This is the goal we set at our first meeting," the head of state added.

UNIAN memo. EBRD has been operating in Ukraine since 1993, being the largest international investor in Ukraine. Over the period of cooperation, EBRD has financed 460 projects in Ukraine totaling over EUR 14.54 billion.

In 2019, the bank invested more than EUR 1.1 billion in 51 projects in Ukraine's public and private sectors.
