Some 37 million people lived in Ukraine as of December 1, 2019, according to the latest remote estimates.
Experts say Ukraine's gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in 2019 was higher by US$500-1,000 than it was estimated before, taking into account the latest population count published in the country.

In particular, Executive Director at CASE Ukraine Dmytro Boyarchuk estimates the increase at US$500 per capita.
"The actual GDP was US$4,200 per capita in 2019, rather than US$3,700, as some economists thought. So, that is plus US$500 due to the remote census," he wrote on Facebook on January 23.
In turn, Coordinator of the Expert Platform at the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Andriy Blinov estimated the growth at US$1,000, taking into account the population count and the effect of the revaluation of the hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency.
"With the [hryvnia] revaluation and an update on the number of people, Ukraine's nominal GDP per capita jumped from about US$3,100 in 2018 to nearly US$4,100 in 2019," he said on Facebook on Thursday.
As UNIAN reported earlier, some 37 million people lived in Ukraine as of December 1, 2019, according to the latest remote estimates. That is 5 million down from the data previously published by the State Statistics Service.
Ukraine's national currency in 2019 strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 14.5%, to UAH 23.69 and against the euro by 16.7%, to UAH 26.42.
