Ukrzaliznytsia Supervisory Board intensifies anti-graft efforts

Serhiy Leshchenko will chair the Committee, while Adomas Audickas and Anders Aslund will serve as its members, the company said.

The Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian national railways company PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia has decided to establish a Committee on Compliance and Anti-corruption issues and appointed former Ukrainian MP, journalist Serhiy Leshchenko the Committee Chairman.

The Supervisory Board made the decision at its meeting on January 23.

"The Committee will oversee Ukrzaliznytsia's efforts to educate its managers and employees about ethical behavior in business and to intensify the fight against corruption," the company's press service said on January 27.

Leshchenko will chair the Committee, while Adomas Audickas and Anders Aslund will serve as its members, the press service added.

"With the creation of this dedicated committee, the first of its kind in a state-owned enterprise in Ukraine, we underline that anti-corruption and compliance are top-priorities for the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia. It will allow us to systematically follow up on the performance of the company in this respect, and to accelerate the much-needed improvements," the press service quoted Chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia Supervisory Sevki Acuner as saying.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in late December 2019, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers appointed journalist Serhiy Leshchenko and adviser to the Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister, Chairman of Krona Insurance Company's Supervisory Board Oleh Zhuravliov new members of Ukrzaliznytsia Supervisory Board.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, or Ukrainian Railways, is wholly owned by the state. The company is included in the list of state-owned enterprises that are not subject to privatization.
