The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is waiting when the US$3 billion NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has received from Russia's Gazprom as part of the Stockholm arbitration award is sold on Ukraine's interbank forex market.
"We expect that the funds that Naftogaz received from Gazprom in the amount of almost US$3 billion will be sold [exchanged for hryvnias] and transferred to the national budget. We will be on the [interbank forex] market and will buy that amount," NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii told reporters.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine and Russia's Gazprom concluded an interconnection agreement in Vienna on December 30, 2019. The deal with Gazprom was included in the package of agreements required for the extension of gas transit via Ukraine until 2025.
