EBA President shares forecasts for hryvnia rate at year-end

Ukraine's national currency in 2019 strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 14.5%, to UAH 23.69.

President of the European Business Association (EBA), CEO of Dragon Capital Tomas Fiala says hryvnia exchange rate against the U.S. dollar may be UAH 24 late in 2020 and UAH 25.5 in 2021.

"As for the [hryvnia] rate, last year we finished with somewhere around UAH 23.6-23.7 per dollar. The average rate was UAH 25.8. This year, we expect similar strengthening, may be even a little more. We expect the rate at UAH 24 per dollar at the end of the year, and at UAH 24 the next," he said at an EBA conference on February 6.

Fiala emphasized that the average value of the national currency against the dollar "may be even slightly stronger than UAH 24 per dollar."

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian hryvnia in January weakened by 5.7% against the U.S. dollar, to UAH 25.03, and by 4.7% against the euro, to UAH 27.66 per euro.

Ukraine's national currency in 2019 strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 14.5%, to UAH 23.69 and against the euro by 16.7%, to UAH 26.42.

The hryvnia's historical low against the U.S. dollar was registered at UAH 30.01 in February 2015.
