"On May 1, the Electronic Excise Stamp system will be launched to protect consumers from counterfeit alcohol products. Finally, the story we've been talking about since 2014 is becoming reality," he wrote on Telegram on February 12.

According to Honcharuk, this will create a level-playing field for producers and ease doing business by replacing paper orders with electronic ones via a taxpayer's e-cabinet, which will be possible as early as April 1.

"It will also help step up the fight against tax evasion and reduce the shadow market of alcoholic beverages," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the prime minister on February 12 said he expected the introduction of electronic excise stamps for all excisable goods in the spring of 2020.
