"Due to an outbreak of bird flu reported at the Khutir enterprise in Vinnytsa region in January, a number of countries have banned chicken meat imports from Ukraine, in particular: Japan, the Republic of Korea, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Iraq, the Philippines, Morocco, Tunisia, Singapore, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and others. A ban on Ukrainian poultry imports was also announced by China," Ukraine's major chicken meat producer PJSC Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) said on February 26.

The Khutir enterprise is not part of the MHP group.

The European Union has partially lifted the ban on poultry shipments from the entire territory of Ukraine. Nevertheless, Ukraine is still awaiting official notification from the EU, which will allow resuming the exports.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on January 20, 2020, the first bird flu outbreak had been registered at the Khutir farm in Vinnytsa region since 2017. As a result, more than 100 chickens were eliminated.

On January 23, the European Union temporarily suspended imports of Ukrainian poultry and chicken meat products over the bird flu outbreak. On January 24, Belarus also halted shipments of almost all poultry products from Vinnytsa region.
